When Dina first approached us about rebranding Presents, Presents, Presents, we were incredibly honoured but also a little nervous to work on a rebrand for such an established store in our community.
The distinct white-with-green-dots tissue paper eluded shouts of joy at many kids’ birthday parties when it adorned a present they knew was from the iconic store. With the original owner retiring, Dina was ready to update the business, but stay true to the concept that made this beloved store famous in the community and a destination for those visiting town.
With the name remaining the same, we wanted to try to simplify things as much as possible which is why we chose to highlight one instance of “Presents” with the other two words smaller underneath. The repetition continues to align with Dina’s vision for the store – if you need a present for any occasion, you will find it here – but the larger instance of the first “Presents” gives a nod to the short form of the business name used by locals. The interior of the store changed drastically, featuring beautiful wood floors, a tin ceiling and a large feature wall. A slight distressing was added to the present icon in order to match this new interior and the classic polka dots were retired. The fonts were chosen to continue with the heritage feel that was inspired by the addition of “Est. 1988”.
When the pandemic shut down everything in March 2020, the time came to bring this bricks-and-mortar online and once again we were able to work with Dina – this time to develop a Shopify store. Organization is key to a successful shopping experience when you are a store that has gifts for everyone so many categories and a large navigation made up the majority of this build. With very bright and colourful products, a simple black-and-white design was chosen. A few important call-outs were highlighted and this site was ready to launch.
