The TRC Timeline

Where it started
Founded by Caitlin Christoff Taillon as a one-woman show, Take Root Creative began after Caitlin took a government-funded entrepreneurship program for people under 29 who wanted to start a business. She started by creating digital ads to display on screen at the Roxy Theatres and started connecting with other businesses in her hometown of Uxbridge.
We're growing
Take Root Creative moved into it's first small office space, shared with another creative entrepreneur. It was in the cozy lower level of the Tin Mill that the team really started to take shape. Starting with a shared graphic designer, Take Root expanded to include two Account Managers and an additional designer. It wasn't long before our growing team needed more space.
On the Move
The TRC crew picked up and moved (a very small distance) down the street to 33 Toronto St. N. where they had the opportunity to customize a space to their own needs. A boardroom was included in addition to the big, open collaborative and colourful work space. The team continued to grow in the new space and the client base expanded outside of Uxbridge.
Celebrating 10 years & a speedbump
We started the year off strong by celebrating 10 years in business, but on March 13th 2020, we packed up our gear and headed to our makeshift home offices to await news of what would come next. When it became apparent that remote work would be the new norm for a while, the difficult decision was made to give up the office space.
Looking to the Future
Our team continues to work from home but plan to return to an office when the time is right. Being forced to operate remotely meant that new processes were put in place and new strategies implemented. As the world has changed greatly over the last few years, so has marketing and Take Root Creative continues to evolve and grow to meet the new opportunities that lie ahead.

Caitlin Christoff Taillon
Owner, Creative Director

Caitlin graduated from the Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Bachelor of Design and knew right away that she wanted to run her own business. A youth entrepreneurship program helped her launch Take Root Creative in 2010 and she hasn’t looked back since.

She has participated as a guest speaker at the North Durham Economic Forum and as a judge for the Hustle Me competition, the North Durham Business Idea Competition as well as the BYC Pitch Competition. Caitlin continues to mentor new entrepreneurs to encourage business growth in her hometown of Uxbridge. Along with running Take Root Creative, Caitlin actively volunteers in the community with various initiatives and was a member of the Rotary Club of Uxbridge for over 10 years.

Outside of marketing, Caitlin is inspired by architectural magazines, art history, used book stores and watching movie trailers. In her down time she loves to watch baking shows, knit, take care of her plants (a new hobby), play board games and spend as much time as possible with her husband and two kids.
