Get to know Take Root Creative & the friendly faces behind it.
Take Root Creative is so much more than a multi-faceted marketing & design company. What makes us stand out is our people and the connection we have with our community. We believe in building strong relationships with our clients and giving back to the community whenever we can.
Over the past 10 years, we’ve not only grown as a team, but our look has also evolved over time as well. Use the slider below to see our original branding vs. the branding we all know and love today!
Caitlin graduated from the Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University) with a Bachelor of Design and knew right away that she wanted to run her own business. A youth entrepreneurship program helped her launch Take Root Creative in 2010 and she hasn’t looked back since.
She has participated as a guest speaker at the North Durham Economic Forum and as a judge for the Hustle Me competition, the North Durham Business Idea Competition as well as the BYC Pitch Competition. Caitlin continues to mentor new entrepreneurs to encourage business growth in her hometown of Uxbridge. Along with running Take Root Creative, Caitlin actively volunteers in the community with various initiatives and was a member of the Rotary Club of Uxbridge for over 10 years.
Outside of marketing, Caitlin is inspired by architectural magazines, art history, used book stores and watching movie trailers. In her down time she loves to watch baking shows, knit, take care of her plants (a new hobby), play board games and spend as much time as possible with her husband and two kids.
Hayley is a bookworm (audiobooks totally count!), geocacher, Scrabble enthusiast, reality TV devotee, and lifelong Swiftie. Always adding to her ever-growing book list, she’s eager to hear about your latest read. Hayley loves spring for the fresh energy, new growth, and the lively green after a long, snowy winter. Oh, and the smell of lilacs? Perfect. Her favourite colour is chartreuse because it’s bold, vibrant, and full of possibility.
Most importantly, Hayley is the proud mama of arguably the cutest toddler around. She and her husband are soaking up every crayon-stained, Play-Doh covered moment of it.
Hayley graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from the University of Guelph and completed post-graduate studies at Durham College. Before joining the Take Root Creative team in March 2015, she worked as a Program Facilitator at a local non-profit organization. Passionate about supporting the community she grew up in, Hayley is thrilled to bring her skills and creativity to help businesses thrive locally.
After several years working in sales and team management roles, Gerald changed course for design and creative marketing.
Gerald graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland, where he majored in Visual Arts accompanied with a minor in Art History. There he focused on oil painting, sculpture, photography and design. Never straying from his creative endeavors, he paints landscapes in his home studio following traditional painting methods. Drawn to nature, inspiration is taken from his photography and plein air studies – hauling his painting easel with him on hiking and camping trips throughout the year. Everyday, he can be found in Uxbridge on any one of the amazing trails with his Bernese Mountain Dog, Arwen or at home with his guitar and a cup of tea.
Holly earned her advanced diploma from Durham College’s 3-year Graphic Design Program, and since 2014 has been an integral part of the Take Root Creative team – bringing her deep passion for design to every project. Holly continuously strives to keep on top of design trends and is always searching for podcasts and videos where she can gain even more knowledge about the industry.
In addition to her professional endeavours, Holly is a mom of one, and a pet mom to a dog and two cats. Beyond her role as a working mom, she channels her love for animals into her artwork, specializing in realistic pet portraits and captivating wildlife creations whenever she can find the time.
