Uxbridge Warm Hearts

Formerly Operation Warm Heart, Uxbridge Warm Hearts is an event where coats and other winter apparel is donated then set up for sale over one autumn weekend annually.

The cost for each piece is either $2 or a food donation for the local food bank. The idea is to provide low-cost options for winter wear while raising money for a good cause at the same time. The founder of the event, Maggie McCreath, retired in 2021 and it was taken on by Caitlin and Ian Van Den Hurk. After renaming the event Uxbridge Warm Hearts, Caitlin and Ian decided that it would be fun to have a new brand to give it a fresh start.

We opted for bright and cheerful colours for two reasons:

  1. It would attract lots of attention to get the word out as best as possible.
  2. The positive impact of the event would be reflected in the design of the marketing material.

We are often approached to donate our time and resources to worthy causes and we consider many factors when taking on a project. This one was a no-brainer. The impact of this 2-day event is huge for our community. Those who need warm clothes and boots for winter are able to get them for a low cost and it keeps things out of the landfill.

The resulting 8.5×11 brochure was used by the Town, the BIA and the Economic Development Committee for several years.
